Bridging the Divide - Surgical Experience vs Scientific Evidence
The theme of the 2026 ASM unites surgical skill and scientific evidence, with tradition and innovation. It includes a diverse range of voices, all of whom share the common goal of improving gynaecological care.

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery Society (AGES), it is our pleasure to invite you to the vibrant city of Auckland, to join us for the 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM), hosted at the newly opened New Zealand International Convention Centre. Against the backdrop of the sparkling Waitematā Harbour and the stunning landscapes of Tāmaki Makaurau, we welcome you to attend this inaugural AGES ASM in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Our conference theme reflects a commitment to honour the wisdom and instincts learned in the operating theatre, while embracing the power of emerging research and innovation, to guide and refine our surgical practice. The International Keynote speakers, Dr Cara King and A/Prof. Sony Singh, open the conference by delving into pedagogy – the methods and practice of teaching surgical skills, with later sessions giving more in depth presentations on endometriosis and pelvic pain. We will discuss the importance around patient consent and explore the balance between surgical techniques and innovation.

There will be a return of the very popular sessions of “Not so live surgery” and “Surgical Performance M&M”. You will not want to miss the potentially fiery debate between “the old dogs and the new tricksters”, and you may unlock your own potential for Leadership in the final session of the conference.

Auckland in March is a great time to visit, with long, warm days and a welcoming energy. We encourage you to explore our fine dining scene and cultural attractions, and strengthen your professional connections within the AGES community.

Dr Michael Wynn-Williams - AGES President & ASM Conference Chair
Dr Simon Edmonds & Dr Olivia Smart - Co-Scientific Chairs
On behalf of the Organising Committee

"Kotahi te kākaho, ka whati; ki te kāpuia, e kore e whati."
A reed on its own will break; when bound together, it will not.

This proverb speaks directly to unity, collaboration, and strength through connection — aligning with the meeting’s aim of integrating surgical instincts with scientific insights, and fostering relationships across disciplines, cultures, and regions.
